Crops are a great way to pass the time, develop your skills, make money (and even friends) in Certain Crops make great gifts and are loved by some villagers, and I personally love to gift Crops to Linus as I have a major soft spot for him and his lifestyle (Although I was bitterly disappointed by the limit on how many gifts you can give per week). .
Crops can be split by ; you have Spring, , and Fall (Crops cannot grow in Winter if they are outside, with the exception of Winter Seeds. This does mean, however, that you can continue to grow Crops inside your Greenhouse) falls under the category of a .
is often forgotten about or overlooked as a because it is not required for any Quests; however, it is required for the Community Centre. If (like me) you are eager to complete the Community Centre in order to put the JojaMart out of business, you will want to ensure you have one on hand.
Forgetting about the will likely delay your completion of the Community Centre (mostly as it is not available unless sought out and purchased during your first year).
If you want to complete the Community Centre within your first year, the must be purchased from the Travelling Cart, which appears twice a week to the east of the , which can be found South of your Farm (more on this later) however if you are willing and able to wait (and not to mention save some money in the process) you can purchase seeds in your and grow your own on your Farm.
Bottom Line Up Front
is a ; seeds can only be purchased from year two onwards from Pierre’s for 100g per and take nine days to mature. Although there are no Quests that center around or require , you may sometimes receive an order for these at the Help Wanted Board at Pierre’s .
is also required to complete the in the Bulletin Board within the Community Centre. can also be gifted to anyone other than Abigail, Haley, Jas, Sam, and Vincent, who dislike . (Everyone else likes but does not love . Therefore, it is a good gift but not the most strategic gift if you are eager to progress friendships or relationships quickly).
How to obtain
Growing
You can grow your own on your Farm by first obtaining Seeds; these can be found in Pierre’s ; however, these are only available from year two onwards. Seeds cost 100g per . Once these are planted on your Farm, they will take nine days to mature and produce (Like most other Crops, these need to be watered daily).
is a and so can only grow during the (Even if you receive the Seeds in another , you should wait until to plant).
Foraging
, unfortunately, cannot be foraged or found around the Town; if you want to grow these, you will need to purchase and plant seeds, which may be important to do as is needed to complete the Community Centre (If you opt to go down this path).
Purchasing
Seeds can also be found occasionally in the Travelling Cart, which appears to the east of the on Fridays and Sundays. However, the chances of finding in the Travelling Cart are relatively slim.
Uses for
Bundles
You can donate one to the in the Bulletin Board of the Community Centre; the reward for completing the is one . The is capable of producing anywhere between 1-3 seeds of the object placed inside it.
If you were to one and place it in the , for example, you could receive either 1,2, or 3 Seeds in return. To create the , you will need 25x Wood, 1x Gold Bar, and 10x Coal.
Recipes
can be used in recipes to create the following dishes;
Coleslaw
This requires 1x , 1x Vinegar, and 1x Mayonnaise. The can be consumed in order to provide 213 energy and 95 health. In order to create this, you will first need to get the recipe which can only be acquired through the TV on your Farm on the channel ”The Queen Of Sauce” on the 14th Spring on Year One. If you choose to sell the Coleslaw, this can be sold for 345g.
Fish Taco
This requires 1x , 1x Tortilla, 1x Tuna, 1x Mayonnaise. The Fish Taco can be consumed in order to provide 165 energy and 74 health. In order to create this, you will first need to get the recipe. However, this cannot be purchased! You need to work on your relationship with Linus, and once you reach seven hearts in your relationship with Linus, he will send you the recipe in the mail!
Consuming this will also provide you with a fishing buff for seven minutes; this means that your Fishing Level will increase by two points for seven minutes which allows you to catch further and gives you a larger room for error when Fishing. If you choose to sell the Fish Taco, this can be sold for 500g.
This requires 1x and 1x Radish. The can be consumed in order to provide 240 energy and 108 health. In order to make this dish, you will first need to get the recipe from Emily. This means that you need to work on your relationship with her to the point of reaching seven hearts.

FAQs
Question: Where can I find Red Cabbage in Stardew Valley?
Answer: You must grow your own Red Cabbage; if you want to obtain some, you must purchase Red Cabbage Seeds. These are available from Pierre’s General Store for 100g from year two onwards. You can also create your own seeds after purchasing these from Pierre by using the Seed Maker to reduce costs. The Seed Maker can be given from the Bulletin Board Bundle in the Community Centre or created by using 25x Wood, 1x Gold Bar, and 10x Coal.
Question: Why do I need Red Cabbage in Stardew Valley?
Answer: Although you do not need Red Cabbage in order to complete any Quests, you do need Red Cabbage in order to complete the Community Centre (If this is your goal as completing the Community Centre is optional). Red Cabbage is required for the Dye Bundle on the Bulletin Board. The reward for completing the Bulletin Board is one Seed Maker.
Question: When can you get Red Cabbage in Stardew Valley?
Answer: Red Cabbage is a Summer Crop, so regardless of when you purchase or receive the Red Cabbage Seeds, these can only grow and must only be planted in the Summertime.
Question: Can I gift Red Cabbage?
Answer: You can gift Red Cabbage. However, it is important to note that Red Cabbage is only liked and not loved by some villagers. It is also disliked by Abigail, Haley, Jas, Sam, and Vincent. You should avoid gifting to any of those characters as it will damage your relationship with them (and you will likely receive a rude comment as well for your efforts).
In short, yes, you can, but there are better gifts you can give which will be loved by characters (Beer is normally a very safe option, which is also highly convenient as everyone tends to gather in the Saloon in the evenings anyway)
Red Cabbage Stardew Valley Guide: Summary
Red Cabbage can be an awkward crop because it is not available in your first year; however, if you are eager to complete the Community Centre, you should purchase it from the Travelling Cart on either Fridays on Sundays south of your Farm (although this can be expensive).
Otherwise you can wait until year two and purchase Red Cabbage Seeds from Pierre’s General Store and plant in the Summer, which takes nine days. If you are not contributing to the Community Centre, these can be sold or gifted onwards or used to create dishes to consume and take to the Mines!
