Salmon is a River fish and can be found in the Fall between 6 am and 7 pm in any weather. Salmon can be caught using a standard Fishing Rod without any further equipment or can be purchased from the Travelling Cart.

Salmon can be used to craft Maki Rolls, Sashimi, Salmon Dinner, or Quality Fertilizer. Salmon is not needed for any particular Quests or Community Centre bundles and is not a welcome gift to many other than Willy, Sebastian, Pam, Linus, Leo, Elliot, and Demetrius, who tolerate it at best.

How to Get Salmon

Salmon is a River dwelling Fish and can be found in the River in the Town or the Cindersnap Forest. Salmon can be found anytime between 6 am and 7 pm in any weather, but only during Fall.

While Salmon can only be found in Fall when using your Fishing Rod, however, if you use Magic Bait, it can be found in any season or any time. It is worth noting that in order to use Magic Bait, you first must have a Fibreglass or Iridium Rod. The Iridium Rod can be purchased for 7500g in Willy’s Shop; the Fibreglass Rod can be purchased for 1800g in Willy’s Shop. Magic Bait can only be used once per purchase.

Purchased from the Travelling Cart

There is a Travelling Cart that appears on Sundays and Fridays just south of the Cindersnap Forest. The Travelling Cart is open until 8 pm on the days when it is there. Its stock rotates over time, and so while it is not always guaranteed, you can purchase Salmon from this for the cost of 225-1000g.

Found around the Town

Salmon can also be found by rummaging through the Bins within the Town, although this is not guaranteed, and its appearance is random. You can search in each bin once a day throughout the Town.

Uses for Salmon

Salmon in Recipes

Salmon can also be used to create some items and dishes which can be consumed, gifted, sold, or used, such as;

Maki Rolls; This requires 1x Salmon, 1x Seaweed, and 1x Rice. This can be consumed in order to provide 100 energy and 45 health. In order to create this, you need the recipe, which can be purchased from the Saloon for 300g or obtained through the Queen of the Sauce channel on your TV at home on the 21st Summer. This dish can also be sold for 220g.
Salmon Dinner; This requires 1x Salmon, 1x Amaranth, and 1x Kale. This can be consumed in order to provide 125 energy and 56 health. In order to create this, you need the recipe which can be gifted to you from Ken once you reach three hearts in your friendship. This can also be sold for 300g.
Sashimi; This requires 1x Salmon. This can be consumed in order to provide 75 energy and 33 health. In order to create this, you need the recipe which can be gifted to you from Linus once you reach three hearts in your friendship. This can also be sold for 75g.
Quality Fertilizer; This requires 1x Fish and 2x Sap. This is designed to be placed on tilled soil before you plant any crops in order to increase the likelihood of growing quality crops. In order to unlock this recipe, you must first reach Farming level nine. This can be sold for 10g.

Salmon in Tailoring

You can use one Salmon in order to create a Faded Denim Shirt in the Sewing Machine. This serves no function or benefit and is a solely aesthetic creation.

Salmon in Your Pond

You can also place Salmon in the pond on your farm, where they will then reproduce every two days. As well as reproducing other Salmon, they can also provide Roe which in turn can be sold for 30g (Plus the selling price of the original Fish, in this case, the Salmon, divided by two). Roe can also be used to create Aged Roe and Caviar.

Salmon in Quests

Salmon is not requested for specific progression Quests, but it may be required in order to complete some orders within the game, such as;

Item Delivery; Salmon can be requested through the Help Wanted Board outside Pierre’s Shop. If delivered, you can receive a reward of 225g and 150 Friendship Points with whoever requested the Salmon.

Salmon as Gifts

You could give Salmon as a gift to other Town members in order to improve your relationship with them. It is worth noting that no one in Stardew Valley likes or loves Salmon, and so it is not the ideal gift if your aim is to reach a certain level in your relationship. Salmon is only tolerated by Willy, Sebastian, Pam, Linus, Leo, Elliot, and Demetrius.

Selling Salmon

Salmon can be sold for 75g at its basic quality, 93g at a silver level, 112g at a gold level, and 150g at an iridium level.

Void Salmon

The Void Salmon is something that only becomes available to players who have progressed into later gameplay, as it requires access to the Witches Hut. To access the Witches Hut, you must complete the Dark Talisman Quest.

The Dark Talisman Quest

In this Quest, you are asked to retrieve an item from the Witch by the Wizard. You must then speak with Krobus, enter the mutant Bug Lair retrieve the Talisman, and return to the Railroad Cave (above Robins Shop) to unlock the Swamp.

Fishing for Void Salmon

Once you have access to the Swamp, you should fish in it to find a Void Salmon. This can be done at any time, in any season, and in any weather! Void Salmon can be hard to catch, and so a popular option is to equip attachments to the Fishing Rod, which improves your chance of success. Popular choices are Bait, Bobbers, and an Iridium Fishing Pole.

Use of Void Salmon

While Void Salmon is not necessary for any Quests, this can be used to complete a Community Centre bundle, which in turn unlocks the Movie Theatre! The Void Salmon is not a good gift as it is not liked or loved by any Villagers; however, it is tolerated by Elliot, Leo, Demetrius, Linus, Pam, Sebastian, and Willy.

Void Salmon can be sold for 150g at a basic level, 187g at a silver level, and 225g at a gold level. Void Salmon can also be consumed to get 63 energy and 28 health. Void Salmon can also be used to create Maki Rolls, Sashimi, and Quality Fertilizer.
