What is a Keg?

A Keg is a machine that can be used to turn fruits and vegetables into Juices, Ales, Wines, and more! It works very similarly to a Preserve Jar but produces liquids rather than preserves.

How Do I Make a Keg?

To craft a Keg, you would require 30x Wood, 1 Copper Bar, 1 Iron Bar, 1 Oak Resin, and a farming level eight. A Keg is also granted as a reward for completing the Artisan Bundle in the Pantry of the Community Centre.

What Can I make with a Keg?

There is a range of products that you can create once you have a Keg!

Beer

Beer is created by using Wheat and placing it inside the Keg. Beer takes one in-game day to process once placed inside the Keg and can be sold for 200g. Beer has some strategic effects within the game; it increases health by 22 points and 50 energy points.

However, it reduces your speed by one point, and so navigating is slower. This is important to note if you need to get home in a rush before you faint! Beer is also a welcomed gift to most of the characters in Stardew Valley. If you do not have Wheat, you can gain this by planting Wheat seeds (Which you can purchase from Pierre’s General Store) and harvesting these after four days by using a Scythe.

Coffee

Coffee is created by placing five Coffee Beans inside the Keg. Coffee takes two in-game hours to process once placed inside the Keg and can be sold for 150g. As opposed to Beer, consuming Coffee can increase your speed by one point, so you may find that after a Coffee, you can get a little more done! Coffee also increases your energy by three points and your health by one point.

Coffee Beans are hard to find in-game but a coffee bean can sometimes be found in the Travelling Cart or a coffee bean can be dropped by Dust Sprites. As they are hard to come across, it is best to plant these to increase your amount of Coffee Beans.

Coffee is an incredible crop to grow and offers amazing profit which can only be bettered by premium crops like Starfruit, Ancient Seed, and Sweet Gem Berry.

Green Tea

Green Tea is created by placing Tea Leaves inside the Keg. Green Tea takes three in-game hours to process once placed inside the Keg and can be sold for 100g. Drinking Green Tea can increase your energy by thirteen points and health by five points. Green Tea can also give you maximum energy plus thirty additional points.

Tea Leaves can take some time to harvest. You first need to purchase a Tea Sapling from the Travelling Cart and plant this; twenty days after the sapling is planted, you will then have a Tea Bush. The Tea Bush will then grow one Tea Leave each day during the final weeks of Spring, Summer, and Fall.

Juice

Juice is created by placing one piece of any vegetable crop inside the Keg. Juice takes four in-game days to process once placed inside the Keg and can be sold for 2.25x the price of the vegetable that was placed inside. Drinking Juice can increase your energy by seventy-five points and your health by thirty-three points.

There is a large range of Juices you can create as you can use any vegetable to make Juice. They are listed below in order of highest-lowest sell price;

Mead

Mead is created by placing Honey inside the Keg. Mead takes ten in-game hours to process once placed inside the Keg and can be sold for 200g. Drinking Mead can increase your energy by seventy-five points and your health by thirty-three points. However, proceed with caution as drinking Mead also reduces your speed by one point.

Honey can be gained by first creating a Bee House. To do this, you require 40x Wood, 8x Coal, 1x Iron Bar, and 1x Maple Syrup. Suppose you have never made Maple Syrup before. You can do this by creating a Tapper using 40x Wood and 2x Copper Bars.

Once you have created your Tapper, you should then place this on a Maple Tree on your Farm. Nine days after placing the Tapper, Maple will be ready to collect. Once you have Maple and are ready to create a Bee House, all you have to do is place the Bee House on your FarmFarm, and it will naturally collect Honey, although this will take four days.

Pale Ale

Pale Ale is created by placing Hops inside the Keg. Pale Ale takes two in-game days to process once placed inside the Keg and can be sold for 300g. Drinking pale Ale can increase your energy by fifty points and your health by twenty-two points. However, similar to Beer and Mead, this will reduce your speed by one point.

Hops can be grown by using a Hops Starter; this can be purchased from the General Store for 60g or at Joja Mart for 76g. Once planted, you will be able to gather Hops from your Starter after eleven days.

Wine

Wine is created by placing any fruit crop inside the Keg. It takes just over six-game days to process once placed inside the Keg and can be sold for 3x the price of whichever Fruit was placed inside. Drinking Wine can increase your energy by fifty points and your health by twenty-two points. This, too, when consumed, will reduce your speed by one point. Wine is easily the most profitable artisan good in Stardew Valley, with Ancient Wine being a great way to make a profit. So if you want to become an artisan farmer, this is the way to go.
