Jodi Stardew Valley Guide

There’s always been a stereotype of what high-quality games mean, whether high-definition graphics or thrill-seeking campaigns that are extremely fun and exciting to play with your mates. But Stardew Valley breaks all of these notions. As a 2D game, it doesn’t offer the best graphics, yet it is one of the most popular indie games to date.

That’s because Stardew Valley isn’t just a game; it is a virtual lifestyle. In this 2D virtual paradise, you get to meet interesting characters and relax in your own farmhouse. The villagers of Pelican Town will eventually become your friend and help you out in your life in the countryside.

One of them is Jodi; she is a mother of two kids –Vincent and Sam. She loves hanging out with the ladies, but Caroline is her best friend. She is also among the bachelorettes you can marry since Kent is already her husband. But this shouldn’t stop you from befriending her.

In this guide, you will learn all the essential information you’ll need about Jodi from her appearance and personality, quests, schedule, down to her heart events! So, if you are interested to know these, read on!

Bottom Line Up Front

Being the mother of Sam and Vincent, Jodi is eager to raise his boys in a happy and healthy environment. She spends most of her days doing household chores, tending her garden, and hanging out with her best friend, Caroline. Jodi leads a happy and peaceful life; however, there isn’t always sunshine and rainbows every day. She is always worrisome about her boys and her husband’s post-war trauma.

Jodi’s essentials

Building a bond with Jodi is a bit tricky and requires effort. You need to know a few recipes or have lots of gold to purchase the things she loves. She’s into homecooked dishes and fancy things. You should also remember that she loves every item in the universal love list. You can give her two gifts every week. And once you’ve built your friendship with her, she will confide all her problems to you and give awesome gifts too.

Jodi: Appearance, Personality, and Hobbies

Appearance

Like her best friend Caroline, Jodi looks seemingly young for her age. You can even mistake her for being in her late 20s to early 30s. She has bright ginger hair that she wears in a braid. Jodi keeps her hair away from her face, accentuating her thin and slim jawline. Aside from that, she parts her hair in the middle and sets her braid on her right shoulder.

Her soft brown eyes compliment her pursed lips and arched brows. She also loves to wear stud earrings too. She’s a very simple woman and wears a pink shirt with dotted details. However, she wears a violet tank top during aerobics class with Caroline. While there have been a couple of game developments and updates, Jodi’s appearance was altered or changed in any way.

Personality

At first glance, Jodi looks like your typical suburban mom. She cares for her sons and her husband too. However, she gets easily frustrated with a lot of things. She has a very tough home life. While she lives in a house with three other people, she does most things by herself. This is possible one of the reasons why she’s tired, easily irritated, and possibly difficult to please. Most of her favorite items require preparation or are extremely hard to find.

As you get to know her, she’ll confide all her worries to you, and you’ll eventually see that her life is extremely difficult. She obviously loves her husband and kids, but it seems like she has the potential to do more. She even reiterates this in several conversations.

By raising your heart levels with her, you can help her find a new outlet and encourage her to pick a hobby or visit the spa. Finding a hobby is the best way for Jodi to be happy about her current situation.

Hobbies

Jodi is an extremely busy person. She rarely has time for herself. And if she does, she will rather have a proper rest than do anything else. She loves going to the Town Square because it’s the only time she can undoubtedly be alone. Aside from that, she goes to the shrine of Yoba to reflect and pray.

Most of the time, you can see her chatting with Caroline. She’s also into fitness as she spends a lot of time with the other girl villagers doing aerobics at Pierre’s.

Schedule

As a mom and a housewife, Jodi spends most of her time inside her home. You can always spot her in her house; she will either clean, cook, or wash clothes inside the house. However, she also loves hanging out with her best friend. In fact, the only reason she goes out of the house is to lounge in the town square or attend aerobics class with Caroline.

You can also spot her at Joja Mart because she does her weekly grocery shopping in the shopping mall. If she’s not in any of these places, you can visit the shrine of Yoba or the Town Square.

Relationship

Jodi is married to Kent. They have two sons together, Sam and Vincent. However, her relationship with her husband isn’t the best. They’re riddled with marital problems, especially since Kent has post-war trauma. Kent is away serving in the army for the first year of the game. He only returns to live in Pelican Town during the second year of Spring.

As Jodi reunites with her husband, she realizes that her PTSD from the war causes friction in their relationship. She is always worried about her husband’s burst of emotions. While they still sleep together in the same bed, they face opposite directions — which can be a clear sign that they’re no longer in love with each other. (pro tip: visit their house during bedtime to see this scenario playout)

Sam has some serious teenage angst towards her mom yet is a friendly and outgoing. Jodi always worries about his well-being because of her disregard for authority. He doesn’t care if he breaks any rules and holds the record for most community service hours rendered in town. This is especially problematic for Jodi because all she ever wanted was for her boys to live a peaceful life. Weirdly enough, Sam also has the most enormous room in their house.

Jodi’s relationship with her youngest son Vincent is seemingly ordinary. Because Vincent’s father is away, she loves spoiling her. Most of the time, she allows Vincent to do different activities without her supervision.

Quests

The best way to build a relationship with Jodi is to be willing to help her. Whenever she asks for help, you should be ready to lend a hand. You can increase your friendship point with her by making her requests. She only has one quest to complete but asks for a couple of favors on the town’s “Help Wanted” board. These are the following tasks you can finish so you can befriend Jodi:

Fish Casserole

After reaching four friendship hearts with Jodi, she will ask a favor from you to bring a largemouth bass from your lake to her house. Once you deliver the item, you will see a cutscene. Aside from that, there’s no reward or incentive for this quest.

Jodi’s Request

You’ll receive a letter in the mail from Jodi on Spring 19. In the letter, she writes that she needs a cauliflower. If you complete the quest, you will receive 350g and 1 Heart from her.

“Help Wanted” board.

Jodi will post on the “Help Wanted” board outside Pierre’s General Store throughout the game. You can check it every day to complete her request. Finishing these quests will yield three times the item’s base value plus 150 friendship points.

Best Gifts for Jodi

If you want to increase your friendship with Jodi, you can also give gifts to her. Aside from interacting with her and completing her quests, giving gifts is a sure-fire way to befriend her. However, there’s also an art to gift-giving. You need to know the gifts that Jodi loves. And when you give her these gifts, she’ll usually say, “Oh, you’re such a sweetheart! I love this!”

You can give her two gifts per week at most, and you can also give her an extra present on her birthday, which falls on the 11 of Fall.

Chocolate Cake

Well, who wouldn’t love a decadent and sweet dessert? You can give Jodi a Chocolate Cake by prepping it in a cookout kit or the kitchen of your upgraded farmhouse. To cook this dish, you’ll need a couple of ingredients which are Wheat Flour (1), Sugar (1), and Egg (1). You can also learn the recipe after watching The Queen of Sauce on Winter 14, Year 1.

After completing the 2500 Bundle in the Vault, you’ll also be rewarded with three Chocolate Cakes. However, if you don’t have the time to make a cake or haven’t finished the 2500 Bundle in the Vault, you can still purchase on in Krobus’ shop or the Stardrop Saloon’s rotating stock.

Crispy Bass

Crispy Bass is among Jodi’s favorite dishes. You can only cook and prepare this dish using your husband’s recipe. To obtain the recipe, you need to have at least three friendship hearts with Kent. Once you reach that point, he’ll mail the recipe to you in a letter. The recipe calls for a Largemouth Bass, Wheat Flour, and Oil.

You can simply cook it in a cookout kit or your upgraded farmhouse’s kitchen. This dish will randomly appear on Saturdays at Krobus’ Shop. It is also on the list of the rotating stocks at the Stardrop Saloon.

Diamond

There are quite a few ways to find Diamonds in Stardew Valley. You can find them in the mines on floors above 50. If you’re lucky, you can also score one in the Gem Nodes in the Mines on any floor.

After fighting a monster, they might drop a diamond once you’ve reached the bottom of the mines. Aside from that, you can also find diamonds inside fishing treasure chests or by panning. You can also duplicate one inside the Crystalarium. So, the item might be challenging to find but not extremely rare to score.

Eggplant Parmesan

This cheesy and savory dish is part of Jodi’s favorite items. You can either make it yourself or buy it in the Shop. However, you need to obtain the recipe from Lewis before even making it. You need to reach seven Friendship Hearts with him, and he’ll mail you the recipe. You won’t even need cheese to make the Eggplant Parmesan, just eggplant and tomato.

Fried Eel

Jodi definitely has a heart for eccentric dishes. Like most dishes in Stardew Valley, you can cook Fried Eel using a cookout kit or in a kitchen of an upgraded farmhouse. George will mail you the recipe whenever you have at least three Friendship Hearts with him. The ingredients you’ll need to make this dish are eel and oil.

You can also buy it at Krobus’ Shop on Saturdays or in the Stardrop Saloon’s rotating stock.

Pancakes

It’s no surprise why Jodi loves Pancakes. These double stack of fluffy and soft breakfast delights are sure to brighten up anyone’s day! I’m guessing Jodi makes this for her family during breakfast, and all of them love it. You can make your own in your cookout kit or inside the kitchen of your upgraded farmhouse.

There are two ways to get the recipe: watching The Queen of Sauce on Summer 14, Year 1, or buying it at the Stardrop Saloon for 100g. You’ll only need wheat flour and egg to make pancakes.

Rhubarb Pie

Rhubarb Pie is one of Jodi’s favorite items. You can cook this cooked dish in the kitchen or a cookout kit. Like some of her well-loved dishes, you also need to get the recipe from one of the villagers. In this case, Marnie will send you the recipe once you’ve reached seven friendship hearts with her.

To make the Rhubarb Pie, you need three ingredients: Rhubarb, Wheat Flour, and Sugar. You can cook it in a cookout kit or inside your farmhouse kitchen.

Vegetable Medley

Her best friend, Caroline, made the recipe for Vegetable Medley (or Vegetable Stew). So, it’s no surprise that she’ll love this. This might be her comfort food and reminds her of Caroline. Well, we don’t know why she loves this dish. In fact, only three other villagers love this meal.

To make the dish, you need two ingredients: tomato and beet. However, you’ll only get the recipe if you have seven Friendship Hearts with Caroline. Once this is reached, she’ll then send this in the mail.

Jodi’s Most Hated Gifts

Some Stardew Valley fans say that Jodi is a luxurious woman because she doesn’t love anything that’s forage — in fact, she hates most items obtained through foraging. So, you should be wary about that because you might end up giving her something she hates. Whenever this happens, she’ll most probably say, “*Blech*… I hate this…”

Here’s a list of all the items she hates:

  • All Universal Hates
  • Daffodil
  • Spice Berry
  • Dandelion

While she only hates three specific things, she dislikes a couple of items such as:

  • Chanterelle
  • Common Mushroom
  • Garlic
  • Ginger
  • Hazelnut
  • Holly
  • Leek
  • Magma Cap
  • Morel
  • Purple Mushroom
  • Quartz
  • Snow Yam
  • Wild Horseradish
  • Winter Root

Heart Events

Whenever you build a relationship with Jodi, you get to know her even more through heart events. These events are triggered by reaching a number of friendship points that turn into friendship hearts. When you reach a certain number of friendship hearts, you will witness different scenes or receive various gifts from Jodi. Here’s a list of her heart events:

Anytime

When you’ve built any connection or friendship level with Jodi, she’ll send you a gift in the mail. There’s a higher chance that you’ll receive the present when you have high friendship points with her. In the letter, she writes:

Dear (Name),

I ordered too much fertilizer for the garden!! I bet you can put it to some good use. Take care!

-Jodi

She includes some fertilizers to help you get started in your farming life. You’ll receive five of each kind of Basic Fertilizer, Quality Fertilizer, and Basic Retaining Soil.

Two Hearts

When you reach two hearts, you can enter Jodi’s room and check her things. You’ll then find a letter from her husband Kent inside the drawer near her bed. The letter suggests that Kent has changed quite a lot from his experience in the military. He warns Jodi about this and has even mentioned that he has a hard time relaxing.

He also includes in the letter that she didn’t want to scare Jodi away. That’s why he wrote the letter so she would know what to expect. Kent highlights that his family, especially his sons, mean everything to him in the closing sentence.

Three Hearts

Befriending Jodi absolutely has perks! Imagine, after receiving those fertilizers in the previous heart events, you can get a delicious recipe too! Once you’ve reached three hearts, she’ll send a mail to you that writes:

(Player),

This recipe of mine won 1st place in a cooking competition! I hope you like it. Thanks for being a friend!

-Jodi

This recipe is Fried Calamari. To cook fried calamari, you only need Squid, Wheat Flour, and Oil.

Four Hearts

To trigger the Four Hearts Event, you need to leave your farmhouse on Monday between 6:00 am to 9:30 am. You’ll find Jodi waiting outside. She’ll strike a conversation with you about how walking to your home was a bit of a workout. After which, she invites you to have dinner with her family at 7:00 pm.

She also mentions that you don’t have to come if you don’t want to. However, she asks a favor from you if you’d come. She requests that you bring a largemouth bass for the casserole she’s making. You can visit her house any day after the invitation is made.

Seven Hearts

This is the last of Jodi’s heart events. After reaching seven hearts, Jodi will give you a recipe she takes pride in. She sends through the mail and writes that the Ice Cream recipe has earned the top spot in a cooking competition. In the letter, she also wishes that you like it and appreciates everything you do for her as a good friend.
