How to Make Wine in Stardew Valley

In the wild and wonderful town of Pelican Town, there is plenty to do and explore with! There are so many things to craft, sell, and gift that it can be overwhelming.

When I first started playing Stardew Valley, I was overwhelmed with where to start and what to do. I turned to Wiki and went from page to page with more and more new questions!

Of course, I will not put you through that, and this guide should be able to tell you everything that you need to know about Wine so you can become an expert sommelier!

How to Get a Keg

Keg In Stardew Valley

Craft Your Own!

If you are an artisan craftsman, you will want a Keg! I was so excited when I got my first Keg in Stardew Valley so that I could start experimenting, gifting, and of course, making money.

Kegs are not purchasable and can only be created by you; before you unlock the blueprint for the Keg, you need to reach farming level eight, so be sure to get planting, watering, and harvesting. Once you get the blueprint for the Keg, you will then need the following;

  • 30x pieces of Wood
  • 1x Copper Bar
  • 1x Iron Bar
  • 1x Oak Resin

Keg Tunnel

Not only is contributing to the Community Centre fun and wholesome it is also literally rewarding. You will get a range of unique and fun rewards as you complete different bundles in each room. Luckily for you, one of these rewards is a Keg!

If you complete the Artisan Bundle, you will get rewarded with a Keg! The downside to this, of course, is that, as the name would suggest, the Artisan Bundle is one of the hardest bundles to complete. To complete it, you need six of any of these items (although you can only donate one of each item);

  • Apple
  • Apricot
  • Cherry
  • Cheese
  • Cloth
  • Goat Cheese
  • Honey
  • Jam
  • Orange
  • Peach
  • Pomegranate
  • Truffle Oil

This can take some time to complete, but you can make much money from the Keg by creating and selling Wine. The more Kegs you have, the more money you can make, so lots and lots of Kegs will always be good.

How do I Make Wine in My Keg?

Starfruit Wine

You can make Wine with any fruit in Stardew Valley, such as;

  • Ancient Fruit
  • Apple
  • Apricot
  • Banana
  • Blackberry
  • Blueberry
  • Cactus Fruit
  • Cherry
  • Coconut
  • Cranberries
  • Crystal Fruit
  • Grape
  • Hot Pepper
  • Mango
  • Melon
  • Orange
  • Peach
  • Pineapple
  • Pomegranate
  • QI fruit
  • Rhubarb
  • Salmonberry
  • Spiced Berry
  • Starfruit
  • Strawberry
  • Wild Plum

Once you have your fruit and are ready to make some delicious Wine, all you have to do is select your fruit, approach the Keg, and interact with it. This will insert the fruit inside the Keg, leaving it to age and turn into Wine, which takes six and a quarter days.

As you can see, Wine does take a long time to make; this is why many Stardew Valley fanatics will opt to make lots and lots of Kegs so they can constantly have Wine on the go and ensure that their farm is super profitable.

Starfruit Wine

The most profitable Wines you can make are;

  • Starfruit, this is worth 2,250g at a base level
  • Ancient fruit, this is worth 1,650g at a base level.
  • Pineapple, worth 900g at a base level
  • Melon, worth 750g at a base level.
  • Rhubarb, worth 660g at a base level.

Uses for Wine

As a Drink, Duh

You can, of course, drink Wine, both in-game and the game, if that is your thing! Like in life, Wine has pros and cons; in drinking Wine, you get 22 health points and 50 energy points.

However, you may lose a speed point. For me, this is not worth it as someone who hates doddling around the town and is infuriated by slow walking, but others may enjoy it for fun and its health and energy benefits.

Wine as a Gift

Wine Kegs

If you are eager to make some pals in Pelican Town, gift-giving is the best option, but only if it is done right! A gift is always great if it comes from the heart, but the residents of Stardew Valley are much pickier.

If you give someone a gift that they do not like, this damages their relationship with you. This is made even trickier by every resident having their unique likes and dislikes, which can be super overwhelming, but lucky for you, I am here to help!

When it comes to Wine, the best people to gift it to are;

Both residents love Wine, meaning gifting it to them will add 80 points to your relationship meter.

Other good options are;

This will still give you 45 relationship points, as they all like Wine! You should then under no circumstances give Wine to;

Doing so is morally wrong and means they will hate their gift, and you will lose 40 relationship points with the recipient.

Wine for the Community Centre

Strawberry Wine

You can also donate Wine to the Enchanters bundle in the Bulletin Board room. To complete this bundle, you do also need the following;

  • Oak Resin
  • Rabbits Foot
  • Pomegranate

The reward for completing this bundle is 5x gold bars, so depending on what you like to craft and create, this may be super exciting for you! This is important as it does take time, and the Rabbits Foot does take a lot of time to find.

Making Extra Fancy Wine

You can also take the Wine you have made in the Keg and then place it in a Cask to age (or become more fancy, depending on how you look at it).

But the Casks are super hard to get! You only get Casks when you upgrade your farmhouse to the maximum, and then you can get the Cask in the cellar of the farmhouse. Once you complete this final upgrade, you get the recipe for the Cask, and to create one, all you need is;

  • 20x pieces of Wood
  • 1x piece of Hardwood

The longer you leave the Wine to age in the Cask the more expensive and higher quality it becomes! Wine takes 14 days to become silver, 28 days to become gold and 56 days to become iridium. This means it can take a total of 98 days to get some iridium wine! If you invest time in this its best to sell it for all your hard work!
